Avon Walk for Breast Cancer - Angela's Angels
Did you know that every three minutes, another woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer? Personally, I have seen
my mother, close friends, and incredible mentors fight this terrible battle. On October 16-17, I'll walk for the fourth time in the
Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in New York City with my friend and inspiration Angela! She will celebrate her third Anniversary as a
breast cancer survivor this year! "Angela's Angels" is a team of great friends, united by the same cause. We walk the distance
of a marathon (26.2 miles) on Saturday, and a half marathon (13.1 miles) on Sunday.
The money raised goes to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to provide access to care and to work toward finding a cure. They provide funding to organizations all over the country in five areas: medical research, clinical care, support services, educational and advocacy seminars, and community-based, non-profit early detection breast health programs. So far, Angela's Angel's has raised almost $50,000 and Silver Pennies Consulting is proud to be a supporter of our Team!! Please click here to contribute to our cause!
Health Kits for Haiti
In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, we wanted to do something to try and help! Silver Pennies Consulting
funded supplies for a group of local children to assemble Health Kits for Haiti. This important program of the United Methodist
Committee on Relief (UMCOR) provides basic necessities to people who have been forced to leave their homes because of human conflict
or natural disaster. The health kits are also used as learning tools in personal hygiene, literacy, nutrition and cooking
classes. We also found that this project to be a very tangible way to help children understand what was happening to the people
of Haiti... and we were honored to empower them to help! With great enthusiasm, the children donated over 250 completed
kits to UMCOR.
